NDIS Behaviour Support

NDIS Behaviour Support

Some adults, children or teenagers living with disability exhibit behaviours that concern their family and friends. These challenging behaviours are often unpredictable and complex, and they may cause harm to themselves or others. They also limit the person’s ability to engage with those around them, and impact their safety, development and relationships.

Challenging behaviours can often be misunderstood by people, causing loved ones to feel stressed and anxious. It’s important to nurture a safe environment where the person can be supported with positive and proactive strategies. This can help reduce risk, improve overall wellbeing, and reduce the severity of difficult situations (or even prevent them from occurring).

NDIS Behaviour Support with Home Caring

While it’s important for everyone to be safe, people with challenging behaviour have the right to personal expression, freedom of choice and independent living. This is where NDIS Behaviour Support can help.

Behaviour Support enables people with disability achieve positive behaviour change, so they can improve their independence and quality of life. It also equips family members and support workers with the right tools, empowering them to support people with challenging behaviour in the best possible way, without overly relying on restrictive practices.

As a registered provider of NDIS services, Home Caring provides Behaviour Support for people of all ages, from children to teenagers and adults.

We work with loved ones, family members and other providers to provide support and find positive solutions for challenging behaviour. With many years of experience in disability care, we’ll help you implement a behaviour support plan to achieve the best outcomes for everyone.

Positive Behaviour Support NDIS

Positive Behaviour Support is a NDIS service that assists people who experience difficulty because of their cognitive or intellectual ability. It is funded under the Capacity Building Supports budget, as part of helping the person develop positive behaviour, social engagement, and a good support system.

While challenging behaviour can be difficult to respond to, the right environment and support can help. A Positive Behaviour Support plan works closely with the person to address their needs – without taking away their freedom, independence or dignity. It ensures that restrictive practices (such as physical restraint) are only used when necessary to protect the person from harm, with the priority being to uphold the rights of the person.

Home Caring implements Positive Behaviour Support plans for NDIS participants who are eligible for this type of funding. We collaborate with the person, their family, support workers and healthcare professionals, with the aim of ensuring the person is at the centre of their support plan, and able to make their own decisions.

Positive Behaviour Support is suitable for NDIS participants who use challenging behaviours that impact their life, and their ability to access meaningful support. It can help people gain life skills, improve their ability to communicate or manage their emotions, build self-confidence and encourage independence.
